Using the services of a travel agent can be a great way to save money on your next vacation – but before choosing the travel agent it’s important to research and compare the rates and fees that are being charged by the travel agent or service that has been chosen.
Here are some of the things that should be compared when choosing an online travel company:
Full Price
Taxes are often not included in the price of the vacation that has been advertised. Be sure to consider all of the taxes, all of the fees and extra charges for the vacation before making the decision to ensure accuracy.
Insurance
Is insurance available through the online travel company? There are times when plans change and the consumer is required to change their plans? Are the travel plans able to be adjusted or changed? What types of fees are associated with changing the plans?
Reliability
The online travel company should be researched and compared. There are often reviews available of the travel companies that can outline the fees and charges, whether the company was up front while booking and reviews to outline any of the issues had by travelers.
Using these tips, vacations can be planned simply through popular online travel companies.

Let’s face it, air travel is a rough and miserable experience these days. With the TSA checks, pat-downs, surly counter agents, cramp airplane cabins and lack of any amenities, flying has become airborne bus travel. This becomes even more difficult when traveling with kids. There are some airlines that have better kid-friendly attitudes that can spell the difference between a good flight and a bad.

Bargain air carrier Virgin gets high marks for flying with families in tow. Virgin North America tries to offer kid friendly seats between adults – parents – and offers the young ones coloring books, crayons and activity books. While this may be very slight in the way of amenities, even a small distraction like a friendly smile and some crayons can make even the fussiest child relax.

Southwest Airlines gives a 10 to 20 discount to tits Anytime Fare for kids between 0 to 11 years old. This helps defray some of the costs associated with air travel. In addition, Southwest tries to give as much of a child discount as possible when there are spare seats on flights.

JetBlue also tries to give child fare pricing, helping large families save a few dollars for flights. In addition, JetBlue offers personal TVs for each seat and offers children an array of kid-friendly prgramming.

Those that fly coach on the plane understand the need for etiquette while flying. The seats are so close that it is almost impossible not to invade the person’s space in the next seat over. The most important thing to remember is to use good hygiene. The worse thing to do is sit next to a person who does not have good hygiene. It is also important not to lean on the person in the next seat. Sometimes the head does droop during sleep, but putting the seat back avoids the need to use the neighbor as a pillow. Another thing to remember is to bring toys for any young children to avoid them misbehaving during the flight. Young children should be kept as occupied as possible so that they cause minimal disturbance to those around them. It is okay to talk quietly to those around. The loud noise of the plane usually drowns out any quiet conversations. It is also polite to share the armrest to the person in the next seat. There is nothing worse than having to fight over the arm rest for the entire flight. Follow these few etiquette rules to have a more enjoyable flight.

There are several ways that passengers can pass the time on a long airline flight. The key is to be prepared and bring along all the supplies you might need for a comfortable and enjoyable flight.

Many people like to sleep on planes. Bring a neck or small pillow, a small blanket, ear plugs, and an eye mask to make the environment quiet and comfortable for your nap. Reading can fill several enjoyable hours on a plane, especially if you bring magazines that you do not normally have time to read or a great new best seller.

For those who like movies, there is always the option to rent the movies shown on the plane or bring your battery charged laptop or portable DVD player and your own movies. It’s a great chance to catch up on shows or films you have been meaning to watch. Load up your smart phone with new games or apps that can be used when your phone is in “airplane” mode.

Other fun options include playing cards or a sketch pad and pencils. In addition to the meals offered on the flight, bring snacks and beverages that you can enjoy throughout the trip to prevent nagging hunger.

Headache-inducing bawling babies, cramped seats, and bland ‘fake’ food are what passengers experience in an epically bad flight. Not to mention the frustration of running around a strange airport and then finding out that your flight has been delayed or worse cancelled. Though you may have no control over most of the things that happens to you on a flight, you can definitely make your travel more efficient by avoiding these 5 US airports notorious for flight delays when making travel arrangements.

John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) – New York City’s busiest airport has had some flight delays recently. Avoid flying at night (4-11 pm) as these are the worst time windows and try to fly before 8 am.

Las Vegas-McCarran International Airport (LAS) – If you fly between 2-10 pm, there is a great chance that your flight will be delayed. To avoid this, fly before 9 am. The bright side to flight delay is longer play-time at their slot machines!

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) – Every year, delays at this airport are getting worse and worse. If you must, fly before 8 am and avoid flying between 11-7 pm.

Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) – Though a recent addition, BWI debuts at 2 as the worst airport for delays according to the Bureau of Transportation statistics. Opt for other DC-area airports instead.

Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) -Chicago Midway was voted the 1 worst airport for flight delay. If possible, avoid this airport at all costs! If you end up getting stuck here take your frustrations out on a Chicago-style pizza.
